Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Suffragan Metropolitan was also a known orator and poet.Kochi: Head of the Ranni-Nilackal Diocese of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Reverend Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Suffragan Metropolitan, has passed away. He was 73.
He was undergoing treatment for age-related illness at a private hospital in Ernakulam. He breathed his last at 4.40 am on Wednesday.
He was born on April 26, 1944, as the son of Thiruvalla native late CI Idicula and Achiyamma. CI George was his first name. After completing his studies, he became a priest on June 14, 1969.
He became the Metropolitan on October 2, 2015. He was also a known orator and poet.
