Varapuzha case: 'Real' accused surrender before court, say Sreejith is innocent Culprits behind the Varapuzha violence surrendered before the Aluva court on Saturday.

Kochi: The 'real' culprits behind the Varapuzha violence have said that Sreejith, who was picked up by the police in connection with the incident and died in custody, was innocent.

The three men made the revelations when they turned up at the Aluva Magistrate Court to surrender on Saturday. Vibin, Thulasidas, alias Sreejith, and Ajith were remanded in custody. The men had reportedly attacked the house of Vasudevan at Varapuzha, following which the house owner committed suicide.

Several cases related to drugs and skirmishes had earlier been charged against them.

The surrendered men told Manorama News that Sreejith, who died of alleged custodial torture, was innocent. Sreejith was taken into custody by the police in the house attack case on April 6. The police had claimed that the youth was among the accused.

Five people, including circle inspector Sam, a sub-inspector and three members of the Rural Tiger Force (RTF) have been arrested in connection with Sreejith's death.
