Kochi: The outgoing chief justice of Kerala High Court has said that he has only acted according to his conscience even as a recently retired high court judge, Kemal Pasha, disclosed that all was not well in the state judiciary,
"I really did not think of becoming chief justice and a high court judge. I have worked as per my conscience. I am stepping down with this belief," chief justice Antony Dominic said during a function organised by the HC staff here on Saturday.
Justice B Kemal Pasha, who retired from the the Kerala High Court on Thursday, had revealed about the discontent brewing at the apex of the state judicial set-up, over the recommendation of a few names of lawyers for appointment to the HC bench. It is said these lawyers recommended by the HC collegium are kin of the incumbent judges.
Pasha had aired his discontent over certain actions of the chief justice.
Terming Pasha's statements as unfortunate, justice PN Raveendran said that the judiciary he worked for does not act like that. "You should stop those who try to defame the judiciary," he said.
Pasha, who retired last week after five years at the High Court, was behind several judgements that had sent ripples across the political sphere. He had made caustic comments against the working of the judiciary at a farewell function organised by the high court.
