Thiruvananthapuram: In a major reshuffle in the bureaucracy, four district collectors in Kerala have been transferred.
Alappuzha district collector T V Anupama has been transferred to Thrissur. Anupama will replace A Kowsigan, who will be appointed the managing director of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA). The decision was taken by the state cabinet which met here on Wednesday.
Pathanamthitta district collector D Balamurali has been shifted to Palakkad. Wayanad's S Suhas will also be shifted from the post.
Anupama's transfer assumes significance as two reports filed by her with the Revenue Department had led to the resignation of Thomas Chandy as transport minister in the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government. The reports endorsed the charge of encroachment and conversion of land in violation of the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act by a resort owned by Chandy's company.
During her stint as the head of the Food Safety Commissionerate, Anupama had conducted multiple raids across the state and banned a number of products, including several popular brands, for food adulteration.
