Police driver Gavaskar, attached to the ADGP heading the Armed Police Battalion, works for ADGP Sudesh Kumar. He had filed assault complaint against the senior cop's daughter.Thiruvananthapuram: The case related to the attack on a police driver by the ADGP’s daughter has taken a new turn. ADGP Sudesh Kumar has submitted a complaint to the DGP Loknath Behera against the driver, Gavaskar.
Sudesh Kumar’s complaint says that Gavaskar’s allegation that he was beaten up was false. In fact, Gavaskar was injured after he engaged in rash driving, says the ADGP. Sudesh Kumar also mentions that he faces a threat to his life.
Gavaskar’s complaint said that the ADGP’s daughter had attacked him. Gavaskar, who suffered injuries to his neck, is now undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital (MCH). He was initially taken to the Government Hospital where doctors found that there were injuries to his head and spinal cord and referred him to the MCH.
Meanwhile, the relatives of Gavaskar, a native of Kuttichal in Thiruvananthapuram, alleged that he was forced to do domestic work at the ADGP’s house over the past three months. In addition, the ADGP’s family members regularly showered him with verbal abuse. Fed up, Gavaskar had complained to the ADGP and made a request to relieve him of the driver’s duty and send him back to the camp.
Gavaskar said in his complaint that while taking the ADGP’s daughter for morning walk at Kanakakkunnu, she questioned him over complaining to the ADGP. When she continued to insult him during the return trip, Gavaskar objected. This annoyed the ADGP’s daughter and wife, who was also in the vehicle, and they asked Gavaskar to stop the vehicle. Even though they got down from the vehicle, they entered the vehicle again saying that they had left their mobile phone in it. According to Gavaskar, it was then that he was beaten up.
The complaint said that Gavaskar was hit behind his head with the phone and was kicked on the back. The ADGP’s wife also joined the attack, read the complaint submitted to the Museum police.
The police have registered non-bailable cases against the ADGP’s daughter as well as the driver. The ADGP’s daughter faces charges of obstructing a public servant in the discharge of his official duty. Gavaskar has been slapped with sections dealing with violating the modesty of a woman.
