Gavaskar, wife meet CM; get positive response Gavaskar was discharged from hospital after a nine-day treatment, but often feels dizzy due to the serious injury to his neck.

Thiruvananthapuram: Police driver Gavaskar, who has filed an assault complaint against the daughter of ADGP Sudesh Kumar, has met chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with his wife. The couple reached the chief minister’s office after receiving instructions in this regard from Pinarayi.

The chief minister told Gavaskar that the inquiry was on track and he would get justice. Neither Pinarayi’s personal staff nor senior police officers were present during the meeting.

Gavaskar told Manorama that he would pursue the case against the ADGP’s daughter to its logical end. “There will be no compromise or out-of-court settlement. Nobody is approaching me for the purpose now,” he said.

Gavaskar was discharged from hospital after a nine-day treatment the other day, but often feels dizzy due to the serious injury to his neck. He is now planning to undergo Ayurveda treatment.

After being admitted to hospital, Gavaskar had applied for leave till July 4. He said that he may extend his leave. On July 4 itself, the Kerala High Court will consider Gavaskar’s plea to cancel the case against him also

Meanwhile, it is alleged that the crime branch is deliberately going slow on its investigation into the assault case. Even after two weeks no arrest has taken place in the case, which is being probed by a team led by SP Prasanthan Kani. The crime branch team indicated that there was pressure from the police headquarters against arresting the ADGP’s daughter. No plea for anticipatory bail has also been moved by Sudesh Kumar’s daughter, reportedly following an assurance that no arrest would take place.

Moreover, she has raised a new complaint against Gavaskar for making a casteist slur. It is felt that this move was a warning to the driver that he would face more charges if he continued to pursue the case.
