Kochi: A case has been filed against comedian Sreekanth Vettiyar based on rape charges levelled by a Pathanamthitta native woman.

A case under Section 376 (2)(n) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the blogger for allegedly raping a woman at a flat in Aluva, near here.

The Central Police here is likely to summon Vettiyar based on the allegations that he raped the woman after promising to marry her.

"We registered the case based on a complaint filed with us. The investigation is on. Complainant says he raped her at a flat in Aluva and a hotel in Kochi," police said.

Recently, a 'Me Too' allegation had surfaced on social media, in which a woman had posted that Vettiyar invited her for his birthday party and raped her.

After a few days, another woman also came up with a similar complaint against Sreekanth. This is a compliant filed by one of the survivors.

As per Manorama News, the woman's police complaint states that she was raped at a hotel on MG Road in Kochi and at a flat in Aluva.
It is understood that Vettiyar, who is also a popular Vlogger, has moved for an anticipatory bail.
