Son of POCSO accused found hanging in Kottayam

Pambady, Kottayam: A youth whose father was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was found hanging in the bedroom of his house at Pambady in Kottayam district on Sunday.

Akhil Omanakkuttan, 25, of Karakkamattam Parambil in Velloor allegedly took his own life due to the mental agony he suffered after the arrest of his father Omanakkuttan in a POCSO case. Omanakkuttan is now in remand.

The police have recovered a suicide note believed to be written by Akhil, who worked at a private institution in Pambady. Akhil’s body was later shifted to the mortuary of the Kottayam District Hospital.
