New Delhi: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran's sudden resignation announcement that took everyone by surprise has put the Congress leadership in turmoil.
If sources are to be believed, the appointment of a new person is likely to take time. A decision will be taken after Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who is abroad, returns. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is also busy with the assembly elections in five states.
And, it is unlikely that the party high command will take a decision on the Kerala's party chief until new governments are in place in the states.
Former chief minister Oommen Chandy had said he was not ready to take up any official posts in the party.
Earlier on Friday, Sudheeran, who was the choice of Rahul Gandhi, announced his decision to step down, citing ill health.
The 69-year-old leader was known for taking a firm stand on several issues that led to differences between him and senior party colleagues.
