Bengaluru: Barely a month after it was alleged that AIADMK (Amma) leader V.K. Sasikala was getting special treatment in jail, it has emerged that she could have been let out of the high-security prison in Bengaluru.
Former DIG (prisons) D. Roopa, who was shunted out for allegedly exposing the VIP treatment inside the prison, has submitted a CCTV footage of Sasikala entering the prison in plainclothes along with her sister-in-law, Ilavarasi, a leading national daily has reported.
Male guards were also seen in the footage, further buttressing the allegations that the footage is from the entrance of the prison. No male guards are allowed inside the woman's prison, other than at the entrance.
Sasikala is lodged at the Parappana Agrahara central prison here ever since her conviction in February in the disproportionate assets case along with her two relatives V.N. Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi, all serving a 4-year term.
In a report submitted on July 12, Roopa had said there was 'a talk' that Rs two crore had exchanged hands to give preferential treatment to Sasikala. She had also said a special kitchen was functioning in the jail for Sasikala in violation of prison rules.
