A tanker carrying liquid chocolate overturned and the contents spilled onto the road on Wednesday in Western Poland.
It was not clear how the truck with 12 tonnes of chocolate overturned. The tanker lay across the road, obstructing all four lanes of the highway connecting the city of Poznan to Warsaw.
“We have to remove the truck from the highway first,” Marlena Kukawka, a media officer for the police in the small town of Slupca, near where the spillage occurred, said over phone. “It will take a few hours or more,” she said about the cleanup.
Firefighters were using streams of hot water to melt the chocolate and wash away the mess as the slippery surface of solid chocolate on the road is a worse hazard than snow. The 60-year-old driver was safe with minor injuries.
