The conspiracy was to blow up the bridge and destroy the railway track, said a source. Explosives were also found on the spot. The blast caused cracks in the tracks.
Six associates of Jameesha Mubin -- the man who was killed in the blast -- have been arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
The arrested man-Afsar Khan- a local resident, had reportedly played a major role in sourcing explosive materials seized from the house of Jamesha Mubin.
He was killed in the blast that took place in a car in front of the Sangameshwar Temple, Kottamed.
President Miguel Diaz-Canel said the blast at the historic, high-end Hotel Saratoga appeared to have been caused by a gas leak.
Three explosions at a boys' high school in western Kabul also left many injured.
