The decision was taken at the 160th meeting of the Academic Council, which is the main academic authority of the university.
The employees have been knocking the doors of University Grant Commission (UGC), urging them to takeover these colleges. These DU colleges include Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Maharaja Agrasen College, Maharshi Valmiki College, Indira Gandhi Sports College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bhagini Nivedita College, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Science and Keshav Mahavidyalaya among others.
The Examination Reforms Commission recommended that the weightage for internal assessment for under-graduate and post-graduate programmes should be raised to 40%. Currently, the internal assessment has a weightage of just 20% for UG courses.

Admissions to the Sree Narayana Guru Open University for the 2022–23 academic year will commence as soon as the University Grants Commission gives it approval to conduct courses. This was announced by the State Minister of Higher Education Dr R Bindu in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
The students would get stipend of Rs 6,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively in the first and last years. Specialisations are available in three fields: 1. Disease Biology, 2. Molecular Diagnostics and DNA Profiling, and 3. Genetic Engineering.
The applications could be submitted until 3 July. There is an application fee of Rs 500.
Those who wish to pursue a career in training people with hearing and speech disabilities can apply for various programs until 30 June.
