Police clarified that they have denied permission for fireworks at Puthiyakavu temple.
A local resident told Manorama News that firecrackers stored at a house for a temple festival caught fire and exploded.
Some videos of the incident surfaced on social media showing the fire with intermittent explosions taking place at the site and people running to save themselves.
Six others, including a Malayali, were injured in the incident.
Israeli nationals have been warned to try to avoid going to crowded places (malls and markets) and places identified as serving Westerners/Jews and Israelis.
All staff were unharmed following the blast, Israeli authorities were cooperating with their Indian counterparts to look into the cause of the explosion.
A retired cooperative bank employee Lilly John, 71, who had suffered burns in the blast, died at a private hospital in Kochi on Thursday afternoon.
Over 50 people were injured in the multiple blasts at a Jehovah's Witnesses convention on October 29.
The government will also bear the medical expense of the injured who are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
The deceased is identified as Malayattoor native Sali Pradeep (45), mother of the 12-year-old girl Libna who breathed her last on October 30.
