The scholarship is for a 5-year UG programme which consists of a four-year graduation course and a one-year language learning course. The scholarship is available for students belonging to science, humanities, and business streams.
Applicants should be Keralites who have cleared the Plus-Two (Class 12) by securing a minimum of 90 per cent cumulative marks in the Kerala Higher Secondary Board Examination but with the same percentage (90%) marks for Science subjects.
The total scholarship amount which is pending across the state is a whopping Rs 8 crore. Worse, even the certificates of the winners of the previous years are yet to reach the schools.
The date of the scholarship examination has been rescheduled to December 17, but this clashes with the ongoing second-term examination of Kerala Board schools ahead of the Christmas holidays.
The Central government had decided to discontinue MANF, a scholarship for minority students to pursue higher studies.
Twenty students in each division and 10 students in the special girl child section would be provided the scholarship.
The eligible students who have enrolled for professional degree courses and post-graduation courses in the academic year 2022-23 stand to benefit from this scholarship scheme.
Preference will be given to those who have secured scholarships. A stipend of Rs 3,000 will be paid per month
The Centre has stopped the scholarships, pointing out that it is the responsibility of the State governments to ensure free and compulsory education for students from Classes 1 to 8.
Students of forward communities whose family’s annual income doesn’t exceed Rs 4 lakh could apply for the Vidya Samunnathi scholarship 2022–23. The online applications should be submitted within 20 November.
