Children or legal heirs subjecting a senior citizen to cruelty or shifting the latter to a rescue home without consent could be sentenced to jail for up to 3 years.
The accused was booked under Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and 308 of the IPC (attempt to commit culpable homicide), a police officer said.
