This is one of the many changes incorporated in the revised syllabi for various classes that will be reflected in the books of the upcoming academic session 2023-24.
The questions which were replicated from the VHSE question bank were 1-8 and 17, 21, 23, 24 and 28. These questions carried total marks of 38.
The revised ones, which will be in accordance with the new National Education Policy (NEP), will be developed as per the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
The new curriculum framework is expected to be finalized by the end of this month.
The SCERTC Director would be instructed to study the issue and adopt necessary measure, said Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty.
The state textbook officer Tony Johnson said that directives were given to the textbook hubs in the districts to add the special page on alphabet to the textbooks from the old stock.
The fine involves the prices of unsold textbooks plus an 18% interest.
Following a furore in Maharashtra academic circles, the publishers informed that they will delete the offensive sections in their future editions of the same textbook.
The first book to be printed at the Vypeekotta seminary was the religious text called Doctorina Christina, in Tamil language, in 1577.
