The bus carrying mostly Indian tourists hailing from Maharashtra plunged into a gorge of the Marsyangdi river in Ambukhereni area of Tanahun district of Nepal on Friday.
The flash strike started on Sunday after a bus driver was beaten up by two car passengers in a case of road rage.
The KSRTC bus, which plied from Kalpetta to Mundakkai, would usually stay in Chooralmala for the night every day.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve.
38 passengers were in the bus.
The bus operates on the Cherupuzha - Panathur route.
The two buses carrying 54 passengers, including seven Indians, went missing in the Trishuli River in the landslides in the Simaltal area.
The service, which earlier originated from Alappuzha depot was moved to Kayamkulam after it failed to attract enough commuters.
The service was launched on May 5 this year.
Landslides elsewhere in the mountainous country killed at least 10 people, police said.
