Manu Bhaker and Sarbjot Singh beat the Korean combination of Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho 16-10 in the bronze-medal playoff.
After the heartbreak of her first Olympics in Tokyo, where she ended up in tears, Bhaker finally realised her dream with a bronze in the 10m air pistol event.
The 22-year-old Bhaker became the first Indian woman shooter to claim an Olympic medal by snaring a bronze in the 10m air pistol event.
Manu also became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal.
Ramita had a sluggish start and was not among the top-eight till the sixth and final series but she rallied superbly to book a berth in the final.
The other Indian representative, Rhythm Sangwan, ended 15th with a score of 573. The final will be held on Sunday.
Chinese shooters have claimed their country's first gold of the Games more times than athletes in any other sport and that trend continued with Huang and Sheng triumphing at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta finished sixth with a total score of 628.7, while Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh ended at 12th place with an aggregate score of 626.3.
