The government's intervention came shortly after Kerala State Transport Employee's Union called for an indefinite strike citing non-payment of salaries.
The accident on the first day of service of the much-touted SWIFT buses stole the thunder that otherwise could've been KSRTC's.
The interim order by Justice N Nagaresh came on a plea by KSRTC challenging the State-run oil marketing companies' decision to charge a higher rate from bulk purchasers of diesel as compared to retail prices of the fuel.
Transport Minister Antony Raju said that a strike would mean even less money for the debt-ridden KSRTC. He urged all to understand the crisis that has befallen the state-owned public transport corporation.
The trip will start at 12 pm on April 23 from KSRTC bus stand in Kollam. Travellers can board a low-floor AC bus, which will take them to Kochi Port.
The K-SWIFT bus collided with a lorry at Kallambalam in the capital city.
On the first day the KSRTC-SWIFT will operate four AC sleeper buses to Bengaluru from Thiruvananthapuram after 5.30 pm.
Apart from the earlier announced 24 special services, 64 special buses will be pressed into service to meet the extra rush of passengers during the festival period.
Sindhu had been working at the Mananthavady office for the last nine years.
The first trip – titled ‘Sagararani’ – will be to Kochi on April 17.
