Thiruvananthapuram: Close on the heels of Nissan Motor, the second largest Japanese carmaker, announcing its intent to establish a global digital hub in Thiruvananthapuram, Tech Mahindra Ltd, India’s fifth-biggest software services exporter, has hinted at setting up a centre in the state capital.
Following a Nissan delegation’s visit to Thiruvananthapuram, C P Gurnani, chief executive officer and managing director of Tech Mahindra, held talks with chief secretary Paul Antony, Nissan Group chief information officer (CIO) Anthony Thomas, and Technopark officials on Monday.
Tech Mahindra, which is Nissan’s IT service provider, is exploring the possibility of establishing a software development centre in the capital city, sources revealed. The project is expected to generate 2,000 jobs.
The plan is to set up an IT centre in close proximity to the Nissan’s global digital hub.
The Nissan delegation, who held discussions with chief secretary Paul Antony on Monday, will meet chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday.
The state government has drawn up a well-thought-out action plan to attract Malayalee IT professionals working abroad to the mega project, it was learnt.
Nissan’s digital global hub is aimed at developing driverless vehicles and electric cars.
