Bengaluru: Azim Premji University has announced admissions to its Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme for 2018-20. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)-approved programme aims at developing teacher educators with in-depth knowledge and critical perspectives.
This will be a full-time programme based in Bangalore. The programme consists of core courses, electives (disciplinary areas and advanced educational studies), workshop courses and a compulsory dissertation. The disciplinary focus will be on Science and Mathematics Education. Students will have field engagements in all semesters. Members of the faculty are accomplished academicians, teacher educators, researchers, and agents of social transformation, a press release issued by the university said.
The programmes is an excellent opportunity for school teachers, practitioners and fresh graduates of education. The course enables them to be teacher educators who can also work as curriculum specialists, policy makers, administrators, and researchers, the release said.
The university has a commitment towards supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds, based on parental education, income, caste, gender, etc. The university provides extensive financial assistance to deserving students through full and partial scholarships covering tuition fees, accommodation and food charges.
Applicants will be selected based on a written test and personal interview. The last date to submit applications is May 15, 2018. The entrance test will be on May 27. The academic session starts in July 2018.
