Actress Meera Vasudevan accuses TV channel of sensationalizing her interview The actress, noted for her role opposite Mohanlal in ‘Thanmatra,’ was irked by the inclusion of intimate scenes from the movie in the trailer of the TV show.

JB Junction, a chat show aired on Kairali TV, is in the news for the wrong reasons, again. Actress Meera Vasudevan recently lashed out against the show for sensationalizing an interview by releasing misleading promotional videos. The show is anchored by John Brittas, the managing director of the channel and media adviser to the chief minister. Vasudevan was quick to cry foul with a Facebook post after trailers of the show appeared. She accused the channel and the interviewer of ‘misappropriating’ and ‘misrepresenting’ her words to build hype ahead of the airing of the show.

The actress, noted for her role opposite Mohanlal in ‘Thanmatra,’ was irked by the inclusion of intimate scenes from the movie in the trailer. She slammed the channel for piecing together sections of the interview with scenes from Thanmatra which were not shown to her during the shoot.

“A lot of my actual words have been misrepresented and clippings that I have not actually seen on the show like the intimate clipping from my most esteemed life-best film Thanmatra have been added separately to make it look sensational. A lot has been misappropriated and misrepresented in the messages and troll clippings put up on social media via the show JB Junction,” she wrote on Facebook.

Vasudevan is all set to make a comeback to movies with the Malayalam film, ‘Chakkaramaavin Kombathu.’ The promo video however showed Brittas quizzing her about a liplock scene with Milind Soman in the movie ‘Pyar ka Superhit Formula’ which came out way back in 2003. A second promo showed her talking about an intimate scene in Thanmatra for which Mohanlal had gone nude. The video then cuts to a shot where Brittas and Vasudevan turn to the screen to watch this scene which had been a talking point when the movie came out.

Stating that she was not made to understand that the clipping will be screened, she expressed her annoyance at the channel’s indiscretion in playing up these portions of the interview. “When I did the show I had very particularly mentioned that I have a small child back home who is watching and judging not only me but also my interviewer on the way the person is treating his mother,” she wrote.

The anchor and the show have landed in soup many times before for insinuating celebrities who take the hot seat. The probing questions often cross the line; while some of the guests put their foot down or manage to skirt around the prying questions, many involuntarily end up going on record about their private lives.

Looks like, JB Junction had on board someone who is not ready to take it lying down. Her post made it clear that she was not going to be left feeling miserable and embarrassed. In the strongly worded message, she said that it was her commitment as a professional that made her appear on the show though she had little idea about its nature. Asserting her faith in a discerning audience, she said she believed there were “supportive, intelligent and sensitive” viewers watching and evaluating the goings on.

“When you promote something dirty about a woman, you must remember that you're not just insinuating her but also insulting all the women especially your own mother, sisters and wife in the process. Good luck and my heartfelt prayers and forgiveness to all those who get a thrill from demeaning people in the film industry. What goes around comes back around! That said, I am grateful for all your support, love and understanding.”
