The pothichoru evokes nostalgia for a Malayalee. Inside a large smoked plantain leaf rests a mountain of rice, a masala omelette, a thick coconut chutney, a fried sardine, mango fish curry or a Pulishery, cabbage or beetroot thoran and lime pickle.
The aroma of banana leaf would also seep into the meal and enhance its flavours and therefore unwrapping the packet is a tantalizing experience. Now Mohanlal seems to be in love with Pothichoru, if his latest video on Instagram, shared by his friend, Sameer Hamsa is anything to go by.
You can see Mohanlal instructing the waiter to spoon some of the rice, omelette, and some chutney to his plate. It looks like a private hotel in Kochi, and he is there to sample some Kizhi parotta and pothichoru.
