Words and deeds don't match: Oommen Chandy's harsh score card on LDF govt Kerala chief Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers of the LDF government wave to the crowd after their oath-taking ceremony at Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram as governor P. Sathasivam looks on. File photo/Onmanorama

Even the constituent parties in the Left Democratic Front are not happy with the way the government functions, if we were to believe the news reports. The government has not even announced a single project worth mentioning. The government has nothing to boast of except inaugurating the projects launched by the previous United Democratic Front government.

The KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board) was touted as the most significant project of the LDF government but there is no progress on the front even after a year. The only news report was about a VACB raid in the yet-to-be-started KIIFB.

The LDF was not able to set anything straight. This government can claim credit for worsening every single issue it tried to handle. The issues involving Mahija, the torture of Harijans at Kutiimakkool, the freeze in ration distribution and the worsening of the law and order situation are some of the examples.

The keeping of the Karunya scheme in limbo and the freeze of the chief minister's relief fund have affected the poor people very badly. The government is not giving humanitarian projects like cochlear implant projects their due. The last one year has been disappointing. The LDFís words and deeds do not match.

The file movement in the state secretariat has almost ground to a halt. The move to roll out a Kerala Administrative Service without consulting secretariat employees and taking them into confidence has antagonized them.

The tormenting of honest officers through VACB probes has discouraged officers from taking a call. It is an undeniable fact that every department in the secretariat is buried under heaps of files. The moment of files is at a snails pace.
