Black or white, beauty lies in the skin’s tone and texture. What if a fair skin is defaced by dark patches and a tanned skin with white marks?
Worse still is the blemish of dark patches around the neck. They say a woman’s beauty lies in the shape and softness of her neck. But what, when a gazelle-shaped neck is marred by pigmentation and dark shades?
When all else fails there are of course a few native remedies which can be relied on to tone down the deep dark around the neck.
Give them a shot. Here they come.
1. Mix a little honey with rakthachandanam (red sandalwood) powder and rub it around the neck. Leave it on overnight and wash it away in warm water the next morning. Keep the neck covered with a towel when the application is on.
2. Make a thick paste of papaya and honey and rub it all around the neck. Keep doing this at least three times a week.
3. Mix honey, rose water, milk or tomato juice with lime and wrap it around. This will make the skin smooth and soft.
4. Blend plantain and honey and spread it around the neck. Wash it off before it becomes too dry. Repeat the process three times a week.
5. Eat the right fruits. Apple and kadali plantain should be well consumed. Drink a lot of water.
6. Mix rawa (semolina) in curds and blend it with butter. Use this mixture to scrub dead cells away.
The dark shade around the neck is usually seen in those exposed to a great deal of sunlight. Women with a lot of flab around the neck too are prone to this discoloration.
If nothing works out, the wise course would be to check out the functioning of the pituitary and adrenal glands as per the advice of a specialist. Do a check for Acanthosis Nigricans, which may reveal serious underlying ailments.
If black and thick patches appear all of a sudden in the elderly, a detailed check-up is recommended as it could be an early warning for cancers of the abdomen.

Because none wants to risk their youthful appearance by neglecting the delicate and constantly exposed skin under your chin.
