A house with a slanting porch roof and grey colored shingles adorning it is innovative and out of ordinary. That’s the style specialty of Rafeeq and Shamna’s house in Thalassery. The 2,500 sq ft house on 14 cents of land enjoys all amenities and comes in modern contemporary style.
The elevation as well as the interiors spots a white theme. While one side highlights the designer car porch, the other side stands out for a show wall in double height with cladding tiles covering and brightening it. The compound walls appear to be like an extension of the structure.
Almost 80 per cent of the interior has been given a white theme. While Prasannan, a civil engineer took charge of the exteriors, the insides were designed by Najeeb of Oro Design Studio.
It’s space and expansiveness that mark the insides. All the rooms are connected and have been designed in a semi-open style with needless partitions given a go-by. Almost all the pieces of furniture have been sourced from abroad. The floors have been laid in Dyna brand Italian marble.
The highlight of the formal living room is its design in double height. A fabric sofa unit to go with the interior color theme brings in a lot of elegance. The small side tables in black glass provide a striking contract to the beige effect. Room for the TV unit has been provided in the formal living within the paneling in Multiwood. Near it stands a glass panel decorated with pebbles. With its lighting in warm tones, a view of the formal living from the floor above offers a rich look.
The courtyard is another designer highlight of the insides. The pergola opening in double height brings in plenty of light and brightens up the space. Black cladding stones on its wall give off a striking look and the floor sports synthetic green turf.
The imported dining table looks fetching with its acrylic glass top. The fold ceiling here is in veneer finish with lights provided inside. Near a nook near the dining space stands the wash basin with its wall dressed up in wall paper.
Another design element is a small ladies living room in white theme and tone beside the dining area. A white-themed crockery shelf and a mirror adorn the space here. A decorative partition in jali work separates this space from the prayer area.
The spiral staircase in a combination of teak wood, multi wood and glass is another designer highlight. An upward view heightens the style quotient of the staircase. A common bathroom has been provided in the space below the staircase.
There are four bath-attached bedrooms in all with two up and two down. The wall paper design from the headboard to the ceiling in the master bedroom brings in a different character to the room making it look sophisticated. A lot of care and thought have gone into the design of the kids’ bedroom. Plywood cuts into rings, polished and painted adorn the bedroom walls here. Cove lights cover the base of the beds.
A cozy family area has been provided in the floor above in a white curved design. The TV unit sits within a plywood paneling dressed in white glossy finish paint.
The kitchen is a piece of elegance with its white and grey theme. A cute breakfast counter finds room here. With an eye-catching exterior and an elegant interior, the house is a study in sophistication.
