Chennai: Tamil TV actress Priyanka allegedly committed suicide here at her Valasaravakkam residence.

Priyanka is known for playing Jyotika in the popular Tamil TV show 'Vamsam', which starred Ramya Krishnan in the lead. She had acted in a few films too.

The actress was found hanging from ceiling fan by her maid on Wednesday morning.

The actress was married to Arun Bala for three years and didn't have any kids. The couple got estranged and were living separately since quite sometime.

Priyanka's body has been sent for postmortem and investigation is underway. It is said she killed self after a domestic spat.

A few other Tamil TV stars had committed suicide in recent times. Anchor and actress Sabarna had been found dead with her wrists slit in late 2016. Actor Sai Prashanth committed suicide after a long bout with depression early that year. A Telugu news anchor had also committed suicide a few months ago.
