Cadell Jeansen Raja Police with Cadell Jeansen Raja, suspect in Nanthancode killings. Rinku Raj Mattancheriyil

Thiruvnanthapuram: The sole accused in the Nanthancode killings, Cadell Jeanson Raja, is not fit to face trial in the case, a medical report submitted in the first class judicial magistrate court has said.

The report said the accused was not mentally stable. The mass killings came to light on April 9 after local people alerted the police as fire broke out at the house at Nanthancode, near Cliff House, the Kerala CM's official residence. The bodies of Cadell's father, mother, sister, and a relative were found charred beyond recognition in the house.

Though Cadell confessed to the crime, the police could not unravel the motive behind the brutal killings. The murder also hogged headlines after Cadell told the police that he was practicing astral projection, a black magic technique which can 'release the soul from the body.'
