Thrissur: Turns out that the prized discovery that led to the arrest of actor Dileep in the sensational actress attack case was an unsuspecting selfie taken by an employee at the Tennis Club in Thrissur. Even as the police were on a wild hunt for evidence to prove Dileep's involvement in the case, a chance discovery of the photo helped them nail the culprits. The actor who was under the shadow of suspicion had till then stood strong on his assertion of having no direct relations with the prime accused, Pulsar Suni.
The police who were closely following the suspects had summoned several witnesses from inside and outside the film fraternity for interrogation. After learning that Dileep had visited the Tennis Club on November 13, 2016, the police summoned an employee from the club for interrogation.
While the witness was leaving the Aluva Police Club after the questioning session, the police asked him on which date did Dileep visit the club. The witness then started checking his phone, trying to locate a selfie he had clicked on that day.
The police, who instantly checked the photographs on his phone, discovered the critical piece of evidence - a selfie with Suni in the background. The out-of-focus image of the accused soon led to the actor.
The prominent young Malayalam film actress was waylaid, abducted and allegedly molested in a moving car at Kochi on February 17.
