Appunni, DileepKochi: The Kerala police team probing the actress attack case has obtained information that Appunni, manager of actor Dileep, could be hiding near Nilambur in Malappuram.
The police received a tip-off that the absconding manager was spotted at Devalam near Tamil Nadu border close to Nadukani mountain pass in Nilambur. This is a regular shooting location for several Malayalam films and a number of Dileep films have been shot here. The Malappuram police have been keeping a close watch on Devalam for the past two days. The members of a special police team probing the actress assault case are also camping there.
The police wanted to question Dileep in the presence of Appunni, but the manager went absconding soon after the much-publicized arrest of the actor.
The police have been trying to reach out to Appunni on five phone numbers, but all of them have been switched off. The remand report mentions Appunni's role in the February 17 attack case.
Appunni is believed to be one of the main links between Dileep and main accused Pulsar Suni.
The police had also found evidence to prove that Suni had called to director Nadhirshah's and Appunni's phones from the jail. Also, that these calls were returned.
Pulsar Suni was arrested six days after the crime. Suni's arrest eventually led the investigators to Dileep, who is suspected to have planned the attack on the actress to settle scores. The duo allegedly started plotting the attack as early as 2013.
The disappearance of Appunni, whom police suspect to be as a partner in the conspiracy, has been a setback for the investigation.
