DileepKochi: Popular film actor Dileep, an accused in the actress attack case, is apparently enjoying VIP treatment in prison, complete with an aide and special food in Aluva sub jail. It is alleged that the jail officials deputed an inmate of his cell to serve him. He is a Tamil Nadu native, accused in a theft case.
Dileep also got the permission to have the same food specially prepared for the prison officials from the jail kitchen, once all the other inmates are back in their cells after having their meal. The jail department has initiated an inquiry into the allegations of VIP treatment for the actor.
Generally, those inmates who cannot survive on themselves are only eligible to get the service of an aide in the jail. But overstepping the rules, the jail officials allowed an aide for Dileep.
Washing his dress, cleaning plates and toilet are the chores of the help. As per the usual practice, the food brought to the veranda of each cell will be served to the inmates, who are made to stand in a queue. But, for the last two days, Dileep has been having special food from the jail kitchen.
It is learned that Dileep will go to the kitchen to have his food once all other inmates are back in their respective cells after their meal. Special dishes, not listed in the jail menu, are served in the kitchen for the jail officials. He is also enjoying the privacy of bathing all alone, after all other inmates have finished their bath as per the jail time table.
According to sources, Dileep was very optimistic about getting bail from the High Court. He started getting special treatment in the jail after his bail plea was rejected on Monday. The jail department is also inquiring whether any shady deals had taken place behind the VIP treatment.
A couple of days after the arrest of Dileep, an accused in a sensational twin-murder case, had visited a top jail official. It had whipped up a lot of speculation and controversy over the purpose of the visitor. The internal inquiry into the incident was postponed after the official in question was hospitalized the very next day due to high blood pressure. Bypassing the strict instructions of the jail DGP, not to allow anybody other than Dileep's relatives and legal counsel to visit him, the prison officials allegedly permitted one of the actor's close friends to meet him the other day.
Actor Dileep was arrested early this month for allegedly masterminding the abduction and molestation of the film actress in Kochi. His remand period has been extended till August 8.
