Chennai: Kochi-bound passengers on SV892 Saudi Arabian Airlines were in for a harrowing time after bad weather led to the diversion of the flight to Chennai.
The flight from Riyadh was scheduled to land at the Cochin International Airport at 11 am Sunday, but was re-directed to the Chennai airport due to inclement weather and poor visibility.
Hundreds of Keralites, who were made to waiting at the airport for 11 hours, alleged rude behavior by the airline’s ground staff. “They have even failed to ready basic amenities. So far, there has been no word from the airline staff on the expected take off time,” said a passenger.
Friends and relatives who came to receive them at the Nedumbassery airport also protested the delay.
When reports last came in, the passengers were still stranded in the airport.
