Kollam: For Murugammal, wife of Murugan, the migrant worker from Tamil Nadu who died after being allegedly denied treatment at various hospitals in Kerala, life has come full circle with the loss of the family’s sole breadwinner and the prospect of starting all over again.
On Sunday, through the same route on which an ambulance with its siren and flashing lights rushed from one hospital to another carrying a dying Murugan, she reached Kollam all the way from Tirunelveli, holding the hands of her two kids – Rahul and Gokul – looking for help to regather her life.
Murugan, 30, who eked out a living by milking cows in and around Kollam, sustained grievous injuries in a bike accident on the National Highway 66 last week, and succumbed after being turned back by five hospitals in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.

Meanwhile, the authorities of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital have submitted a report, denying any lapses on their part. Thereport said that the ventilator facilities were not free when Murugan was brought to the hospital. The doctors had also examined Murugan and said that an Ambu bag facility could be arranged. However, the driver of the ambulance left with the injured Murugan.
