Kottayam: The Congress-led opposition will stage a dawn-to-dusk shutdown in Kerala on Monday to protest against the alleged anti-people policies of the state and central governments.
The hartal will be from 6 am to 6 pm.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has promised that in no way the right to travel will be curbed. State police chief Loknath Behera said strict security measures have been implemented to stop incidents of violence.
Essential services such as milk and newspaper delivery have been exempted from the strike.
The Kerala PSC said there is no change in the examinations scheduled for Monday.

'Peaceful hartal'
Chennithala said the hartal will be a peaceful affair and urged the UDF workers not to resort to force or violence to make the hartal a success.
The Kerala government has ordered the police to take strict action against those who indulge in violence in the name of the protest.
The State Human Rights Commission has warned that those who indulge in destruction of public property during a hartal should be booked and brought before the law.
