Why this Cong leader thinks Kodiyeri & Kummanam should go watch ‘Eeda’ Congress leader P C Vishnunath recommended the new age 'Romeo and Juliet' to CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan.

Kottayam: Malayalam movie ‘Eeda’ has found a new fanboy in Congress leader P C Vishnunath. The former legislator recommended the new age 'Romeo and Juliet' to CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan.

‘Eeda’, movie editor B Ajithkumar’s directorial debut, struck a chord in Kerala with its candid portrayal of two star-crossed lovers in politically volatile Kannur. Though the movie only suggested the main political parties at war in Kannur without naming them, Vishnunath sought to score brownie points by pointing fingers at the CPM and the BJP.

He said in a Facebook post that the leaders of the CPM and the BJP should watch the movie together.

“The movie puts in the dock the CPM and the Sangh Parivar, which stained Kannur with blood. The movie tells us how the murder politics clouds the romantic dreams of the common man.”

He said that the movie evoked memories of several victims, including the paralyzed Pushpan at Koothuparamba to Jayakrishnan, a schoolteacher who was brutally murdered in 1999.
