 Manorama Online wins award for best Kalolsavam coverage The award will be distributed on April 13 at Thrissur regional theatre.

Thiruvananthapuram: Manorama Online excelled in the online coverage of the 58th School Arts Festival held in Thrissur in January. Manorama News and Mathrubhumi News shared the award for the best visual media reporting.

A cartoon by K M Siva that appeared on Malayala Manorama was selected as the best cartoon related to the festival. Malayala Manorama also won the award for best page layout. The awards will be presented at the Regional Theatre in Thrissur on April 13.

Suresh Chaithram from Janayugam and V M Radhakrishnan from Deshabhimani shared the award for best reporting. Shammi Sarass from Suprabhatham was selected as the best photographer, while K Sasi of Chandrika earned a special mention of the jury.

M B Babu of Mathrubhumi won the award for the best roundup. Deshabhimani won the award for the best special edition while Madhyamam earned a special mention of the jury.

Kerala Kaumudi was selected for the award for best coverage in print media.

In the English reporting category, C P Sajit of the New Indian Express and Ramavarman of the Times of India shared the award. Deccan Chronicle was selected for its comprehensive coverage.

In the visual media category, Deepak K of Media One bagged the award for the best reporter, while Deepak Dharmadam of Amrita TV earned a special mention.

Anoop V J of Jaihind TV and Madhu Menon of Asianet shared the award for the best cameraman. Kairali-People earned a special mention for its coverage of the arts fest. TCV was also singled out by the jury from among the local television channels.

Kerala Kaumudi had the best screen shot. All India Radio won the award for the best coverage among audio media.

The winners were selected by a jury comprising P P Muhammed Koya, V K Janarddanan and Renu Ramanath. The winners will be presented with mementos and and cash prize (Rs 20,000 for individuals and Rs 25,000 for organisations).

Carpet coverage

Manorama Online had put in place special arrangements to present the festival news in English and Malayalam. A special site was prepared in a responsive style that performed well in desktop and mobile versions. Live updates were provided on Manorama Online’s mobile app and mobile site.

Apart from live updates, news, analyses, special reports, comprehensive information on competitions and venues, special photo and video galleries, social media features such as Facebook Live, Media Wall and YouTube videos were prepared for the occasion.

Thrissur 360 introduced the geography and peculiarities of the host town. The site also contained a district-wise presentation of the festival news, live television and a daily column.

The site was also noted for the space provided to its readers. Festival participants and audience could use the selfie booth set up beside the main venue apart from the photo booth and studio. The photos and videos from the festival were screened on a public video wall set up near the Banerjee Club.

The Manorama Online pages were visited by hundreds of thousands of readers from India and abroad. The Facebook Lives proved to be instant hits since they were an effective way to present the contests and interviews of contestants and teachers.
