Private bus owners refuse to back Monday's hartal Private buses had to stay off the road last Monday also due to a trade union strike.

Kochi: The Kerala Private Bus Operators Federation will not cooperate with the hartal called by various dalit outfits in Kerala on Monday.

The federation on Friday said it cannot stop bus services on account of the hartal since the industry has been badly hit due to frequent strikes in the state.

Private buses had to stay off the road last Monday also due to a trade union strike.

Various dalit organisations called for the strike next Monday to protest against rising atrocities against the downtrodden communities in north India.

The bus operators reasoned that they cannot extend support to a shutdown in Kerala, citing atrocities on a community in north India.

The Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi also informed that shops will be opened in the state on Monday.
