Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has implemented a major reshuffle in the top level of the police force, shifting 13 SP-level officers, including commissioners. The transfers are in the backdrop of the rising incidents of custodial torture and deaths.
Ashok Yadav, who has returned to the state after central deputation, has been appointed the Intelligence IG. The new city police commissioners are, Yathish Chandra – Thrissur, Arul R B Krishna – Kollam, R Aditya – DCP Thiruvananthapuram City and J Himendranath – DCP Kochi City.
The following officers have been posted as district police chiefs: A Srinivas – Kasaragod, Debashish Kumar Behera – Palakkad, Pratheesh Kumar – Malappuram, R Karuppuswamy – Wayanad, G Jayadev – Kozhikode rural, M K Pushkaran – Thrissur Rural, Rahul R Nair – Ernakulam Rural, Uma Behera – Commandant KAP 2 Palakkad, R Nishanthini – Headquarters and K G Simon – Commandant KAP 3 Adoor.
Nishanthini will hold the additional charge of Women’s Battalion Commandant, Nirbhaya cell state coordinator and Gender Park chief executive officer. She has been shifted from the post of Crime Branch SP.
It is learnt that changes will be witnessed in several DIG, IG and ADGP posts also soon.
