The woman cop posted the visuals in a WhatsApp group of colleagues in the station after her sweetheart reneged on a promise to marry her. Predictably, the visuals found their way to the phones of most cops in the district.
The couple in the visuals have been transferred to different stations in the district after the incident.
The transfer did not put an end to the scandal.
Though the woman and the man in the visuals did not have any complaints, the police top brass ordered a discreet inquiry into the incident.
A deputy superintendent of police sent a questionnaire to the police officers in the Maloor stations.
He asked the officers about their mobile numbers, WhatsApp numbers and if they had seen the visuals in any of the groups. The intention is to track down those who circulated the visuals.
The policemen in the district, however, have not taken the probe lightly. They alleged that the top brass is trying to get even with them because the man in the video is politically connected. He is a district committee member of the CPM-backed Kerala Police Association.
The probe is unusual in a department which has spared even those who had circulated official secrets through WhatsApp, the policemen alleged.
