New Delhi: Indians are ready to go nude in front of white foreigners for US visa, even as they protest against the Indian government for seeking information for Aadhaar, union minister of state Alphons Kannanthanam has said.
Kannanthanam’s statement comes against the background of the controversy regarding the leak of Aadhaar data.
“I filled up 10 pages for getting a US visa. Nobody has any hesitation to give their fingerprints or go nude before the white man for the purpose. However, when the Indian government asks your name and other details it becomes a big issue. People complain that the government is intruding into their privacy. This also leads to big controversies and protests,” tweeted ANI quoting Kannanthanam.
The union minister has ridiculed the ire of the people against the government’s move to seek their personal details while the controversy related to the Cambridge Analytica data leak has affected India too along with other countries.
There was also another row regarding the leakage of data in connection with the Namo App.
The Supreme Court had recently extended the last date for linking Aadhaar with services including bank accounts and mobile number. However, the extension did not cover the welfare schemes of the government.
