Reacting sharply to the Delhi police charge sheet arraigning him as accused in the January 17, 2014 death of his wife, Sunanda Pushkar, Shashi Tharoor, MP, has termed the police contention 'preposterous.'
The police said in the Delhi metropolitan magistrate court that Tharoor had abetted the suicide of Sunanda Pushkar.
Tharoor in two quick, successive, and sharp tweets said he 'had taken note of the preposterous charge sheet.' He said he 'intended to contest it vigorously.'
Tharoor says in the first tweet that the Delhi police had made it clear in the court in October 2017 that they had not found 'anything against anyone.'
"No one who knew Sunanda believes she would commit suicide, let alone abetment on my part. If this is [the] conclusion arrived after 4+ years of investigation," he said in the second tweet.
Tharoor was initially questioned by the police to 'ascertain' why Sunanda Pushkar checked into the Delhi hotel two days ahead of her death.
