The teachers were recommended an increase in salary by the 7th Pay Commission and the state government implemented the hike with effect from January 1, 2016.
As per the government order issued on Monday, the state government said that the payment was based on the request made by Chintha Jerome.
Chintha was appointed the Youth Commission Chairperson in October 2016 a few months after the first Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet was sworn in.
