Nilambur byelection witnessed a surprising performance by independent candidate P V Anvar, impacting both UDF and LDF.
Among the ten candidates in the fray, the main contenders are Aryadan Shoukath (UDF), M Swaraj (LDF), Mohan George (NDA), and former MLA P V Anvar (Independent).
In the first survey, 45 per cent said the performance of the Pinarayi Vijayan government was the factor that will be on top of their mind when they stand before the EVMs.
Anvar also accused both major fronts of neglecting public issues

Unlike Anvar, both Swaraj and Shoukath stuck to political messaging, steering clear of personal attacks.
The PDP and the Hindu Mahasabha have few votes in Nilambur to make an impact. But Jamaat-e-Islami has around 3,000 votes, which usually go to the LDF in Nilambur.
