Thiruvananthapuram: Students who cleared their higher secondary Plus-Two (Class 12) examinations will receive their original certificates within a week, said officials at the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education in Kerala.

The Plus-Two exam results were published on May 25. Students were worried as the certificates were not distributed even 40 days after announcement of the results.

The original certificate is mandatory to apply for visa and other procedures related to admissions for medical, engineering and other courses in foreign universities. Incidentally, the admissions to the upcoming batch in foreign universities will be over before September and the students in Kerala have little time to apply.

Higher Secondary Directorate authorities said that orders for printing the certificates were given much earlier, but could not offer any reason for the delay.

In Kerala, while Plus-Two results were announced on May 25, Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC – Class 10) results came out on May 19. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board had released their results for these classes two weeks earlier and made the certificates available on DigiLocker.
