When a DYFI worker slapped a police officer and got away with it The footage of the assault on the officer has gone viral.

Kollam: An activist of a feeder organization of the ruling CPM slapped a police inspector in full public view during an agitation against the railways in Kollam. The assault has been recorded and telecast by television channels in Kerala but the police are yet to file a case.

The incident happened during a march taken out by the DYFI to the Kollam railway station to protest the cancellation of the Kollam-Ernakulam MEMU passenger trains. A strong posse of policemen was waiting for the protesters to prevent them from entering the railway station and blocking trains.

The protesters tried to barge into the railway station nevertheless. One of them slapped Jiji, the sub inspector of the Kollam East police station, even as television cameras were rolling. The agitated people also snatched away the shields carried by the cops.

The footage of the assault on the officer went viral soon after. The identity of the attacker could be easily ascertained from the clip but the police are in no mood to file a case.
