Sangamitra is not just yet another film for director Sundar C, in fact, its his 20-year-long dream.
In an exclusive chat to Malayala Manorama's special correspondent from Cannes, Sundar said, ''I was just waiting for the right opportunity, not only budget-wise but also technically. We did lot of research and we felt Cannes was the best platform to begin with.''
The historic drama made with a budget of Rs 250 crore was officially unveiled at Cannes Film Festival 2017.
The lead actors of the movie Jayam Ravi, Arya, Shruti Haasan along with music composer A.R. Rahman were present at the Cannes for the launch.
When asked whether the movie will be a challenge to Baahubali, Sundar said, ''Sangamitra will be totally different from Baahubali. Baahubali took south Indian cinema to the national level while Sanghamithra will take it to the global league. We we want to go one step further.''
