Destiny may separate individuals, but not their feelings. This is what Gift of Love is all about. A short film written and directed by Mohit Hussein, it's a take on human values that transcend time and override societal matrix.
Released on the occasion of Fathers’ Day, the 8.29-minute-long movie revolves around a young girl named Sunaina, who is in search of her widowed dad’s old lover.
Actors Meghna Malik, Amrita Prakash, Major Bikramjeet and Imteyaz Hussein Shukla deliver fabulous performances, breathing an uncanny freshness into the story and emoting naturally. Editing and camera work also deserve a special mention. Besides, the deftness in devising the plot and maneuvering the script are commendable.
The only drawback is that the drama unfolds without the build-up required for a pursuit destined to change lives. This slightly cows down the intensity of the search. But it can be argued that the story is narrated in just over eight minutes.
Fathers’ Day is celebrated in on the third Sunday of June.
