'Viswasapoorvam Mansoor' gave me a character which I could relate with myself: Asha Sharath Asha Sharath in the film 'Viswasapoorvam Mansoor'

A stunning performer and a graceful speaker, Asha Sharath is one most lauded artist both on big and mini screen. As her latest movie Viswasapoorvam Mansoor hits the theaters on Saturday, the actor told Onmanorama that she played a character in the movie which she could easily relate with her own life. The actor plays the role of Fathibee in the P.T. Kunju Muhammed movie. The character is a timid and innocent mother who maintains a peer-like friendship with her son.

“Fathibi is a simple woman who values relationships the most. This is the first Muslim character I play. Being a mother myself I could easily relate with the selfless and caring mother in the film. Mansoor often addresses his mother by name and shares with her the details of his relationships and events in the college. I myself enjoy listening to my children narrating their daylong activities at school or college. So emoting Fathibi was effortless for me,” Asha Sharath said.

Scripted and directed by acclaimed writer P.T. Kunjimuhammed, most parts of the movie happens in Thalassery. Mansoor and his mother Fathibi live in an ancestral house where the story is based. The movie narrates the mental stress and emotional strains of Fathibi and her son after they accommodate another family in their house.

The film has Roshan Mathew playing the eponymous character of Mansoor. Zarina Wahab, Leona Lishoy and Prayaga Martin also play significant roles in the movie.

The homely atmosphere and the cozy location is said to have developed a family-like bond among the crew, says Asha Sharath. “We used to spent our spare time in the common family room of that old house, where we talked, sang and enjoyed together. Viswasapoorvam Mansoor gave us some cordial friendships and lovely moments to cherish. I truly admire the innocence and dedication the people of Malabar have,” she said.

She added that working with P. T. Kunju Muhammed provided a chance for insights into every actor's career. She said that Kunju Muhammed is certain about what he wants from the actors in each shot. “He knows what he wants from us. He is clear about what he wants to communicate with the audience in each scene. It was indeed an awesome experience working with such a brilliant artist,” said Asha Sharath.
