Thrissur: A short film made by the students of the K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science & Arts, Uzhavoor, has won top honors at the Manoramaonline-CADD Centre Campus Short Film Festival. ‘Dooram’ has been selected as the best film and its director Ananthakrishnan the best director and cinematographer in season 5 of the festival that focused on the theme, “farewell”.
'Ankavalanum Arabinadum', made by the students of the St Thomas College at Thrissur, has been selected as the second-best film, while ‘Prakruti’, made by the students of the Mar Augusthinos College at Ramapuram, came third.
The best film was awarded Rs 70,000 and a certificate, while the runner-up and the second runner-up received Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively.
Rajasree Nair is the best actress for her performance in ‘Prakruti’, while Shafan Nazar is the best actor for his performance in ‘Valiya Mohangal’.
Director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon inaugurates the award ceremony. ‘Yathra Mangalangal’, made by the students of the Vishwajyothi Engineering College, stood out by receiving the most votes from the audience. ‘Valiya Mohangal’ from the Divine Institute of Media Sciences at Thrissur received a special mention from the jury comprising actor Siddique, director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon and script writer Naveen Bhaskar.
Prayaga Martin on stage.The winners received the awards from actors Prayaga Martin and Sharath Kumar (Angamaly Diaries) in a function held at the Thrissur Regional Theater. All 18 movies that reached the final round of competition were screened in the theater.
